A lot has changed

Well, I haven’t posted since the beginning of the year. Originally I created this blog to write about all my awesome Navy adventures. Although I wouldn’t call my daily life right now “awesome”, I feel like I’m finally doing something beneficial to my financial stability and life in the long run. I shipped off to US Navy bootcamp January 27th, graduated March 28th, and since then I’ve been stationed in Pensacola, Florida, for my “A-School” aka job training. Life here isn’t bad. It can be a little bit repetitive and dull sometimes, but I am hanging in there. I actually haven’t even started my classes yet though. This base is so packed and classes are so impacted that I’ve had to wait over 2 months, almost 3 now, to start training. I tried out for the on-base performing unit, the choir to be specific, and made it. I’ve had the chance to perform at a ton of different events already (minor league baseball games, master chief’s retirements, Air Force graduations, Navy graduations, etc.), which has been pretty cool. I at least feel like I’ve done something worthy while waiting to start job training. I should finally be starting in 2 weeks though! About 2 months from that date I’ll graduate A-School and I’ll know my permanent duty station by then… Originally I wanted to be stationed on the east coast, Virginia specifically, but the last couple months have changed that. The weather here is AWFUL, the humidity is crazy, and I miss the weather back home, but more importantly the people. I’ve made so many friends since going to bootcamp, from all around the country and even the world, and that has been a rad experience, but I still think of my friends and family back home often. I think about my little brothers and sisters especially, ranging from age 7- 13, all at such critical ages in their lives. I want to be around to see them grow up! But I know I need to accelerate and move forward in life also. I want to see the world, meet new people, and experience completely different cultures. It would be awesome to be stationed in San Diego, a mere hour and half from home, and go on deployments once or twice a year, where I would get to experience the rest of what the world has to offer, but still be somewhat present in the lives of those who’ve been around me my entire life. That would be best case scenario. I don’t want to get my hopes too high though, the Navy will send me where they need me, and I’ll have no choice but to make the best of the situation. That’s all for now! If you’re reading this just know you’re awesome and I appreciate the time you’ve taken to read a quick update on my life. (:

The beginning

Hey. Welcome. Thanks for reading this blog thingy. My name is Russell and I was bored so I decided to create a blog to write on. I’m 19, currently living in Orange County, CA. (U.S), and I recently enlisted in the Navy. I figure I’ll use this page to write about my adventures and what not. Anyway that’s really all I can think to say now.
